Little moments, Big memories
I didn’t make new year’s resolutions but I knew for a fact that everything I wanted to do this year, I would put in my all, and give it my best. There is a word for that — Excellence.
11 days into the year and I already feel like a fraud. That’s because I don’t feel anywhere close to that word [the one I used up there]. And that’s okay.
It should be okay. It should be okay to start slowly, as you find your footing. It should be okay, for those that start in high gear, as long as you figure out a way to keep the momentum lest you burn out. It should also be okay to wait until later to start. As long as you eventually start, instead of thriving on excuses.
I didn’t make new year’s resolutions but I made a vision board.
I decided that this year should be about taking hold of the little moments while creating big memories. And here is why ⬇️
In the previous years, I have found that while new year’s resolutions are good to feel aligned to your purpose, they came with alot of unnecessary pressure to check the box.
So it became just that, ticking it off the box, and nothing less or nothing more.
There were more to-do lists than to be intentional lists, to feel lists and to be present lists.
Some of the aspects that stood out for me previously, I have decided to carry forward on to my vision board 👇🏾
- Community
I am not sure I can emphasize how important people are in this maze called life.
For growth, for edification, rebuke in love and sound judgement. Find a community and let yourself grow.
2. Pray
The more I think about that Sunday school song, “Read your Bible pray everyday, if you want to grow…” I know for a fact that whoever composed that song, was preparing us for adulting.
Life can get busy and so do people. But God will always be available 😃
3. Read Read Read 📚
Yes, your Bible. And learn something new. Read books, articles, and acquaint yourself with knowledge.
You can also watch informative things like documentaries. You will be surprised at how much content that concerns the human race can be found in books and documentaries.
This year, I decided that I didn’t want to just check off boxes, but to be intentional about everything I was doing. To be present and to be excellent.
Hold my hand as I hold yours, and let’s journey through 2024.
Cheers!
